Allama Iqbal's Timeless Message Inspires Youth at University of Rajshahi , Bangladesh

A special guest lecture on the timeless poetry of the renowned subcontinental poet, philosopher, and visionary, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, was held at the University of Rajshahi (RU), Bangladesh. The event took place at the Dean's Complex Conference Room. The lecture's central theme was “The Relevance of Iqbal's Poetry for the New Generation for the New Generation: In the 21st Century.” It was held on 16 th November 2025.

Professor Dr. Baseera Ambreen, Director of the Institute of Urdu Language and Literature at Punjab University Oriental College, Pakistan, and former Director of the Iqbal Academy Pakistan, delivered the keynote address. The lecture highlighted Iqbal's emphasis on education, moral integrity, and social justice, resonating deeply with the aspirations of contemporary youth. Dr. Ambreen emphasized that in today's world, plagued by conflict, division, and moral decline, Iqbal's poetry calls upon Muslim society to unite, rekindling in the youth a love for the ideals of the Prophet (PBUH) and the true spirit of Islam.

On this occasion, Dr. Baseera Ambreen also presented a book on Allama Iqbal, which was compiled with her scholarly and literary contribution. The book has been published under the auspices of the Pakistan High Commission for Dhaka and is beautifully printed. It is written in both Urdu and Bangla languages.

Professor Dr. Muhammad Belal Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, praised Iqbal's profound philosophical insights, noting that his work has had a profound impact on Bangladesh's literature and culture.

Dr. Waheed ur Rahman also participated in the event, sharing his insights on Iqbal's poetry and its relevance to contemporary issues.

The event concluded with Professor Dr. Muhammad Shahidul Islam, Chairman of the Department of Urdu, expressing gratitude to the speakers and affirming the department's commitment to hosting international discussions, providing students with opportunities for intellectual engagement.

A distinguished gathering of academics and students attended the event, including Professor (Retd.) Dr. M. Shamim Khan, Professor Dr. Hossain Ahmed Kamali, and Professor Dr. Md. Nasir Uddin, among others. Mohammad Tahir, a student from Karachi University, Pakistan, also participated, highlighting the cross-cultural exchange of ideas.

The lecture series organised by Pakistan High Commission for Dhaka aims to foster intellectual discourse, inspire young minds, and promote a deeper understanding of Iqbal's timeless philosophy.
