Student of Prof. Saima Riazuddin at University of Maryland USA Wins Prestigious International Neuroscience Awards

Tehmeena Akhter has been awarded the Baltimore Brain Series Award and presented her research at the National Institute on Drug Abuse, National Institutes of Health, as part of the Baltimore Brain Series on April 10, 2026, in Baltimore. She also delivered an invited talk at the Biomedical Research Center, where her work received appreciation from a national scientific audience. This marks the first time a graduate student from the team has received this prestigious recognition.
Additionally on the same day, she achieved another milestone by presenting her research at the 48th Annual Graduate Research & Career Advancement Summit, hosted by the University of Maryland Baltimore, in collaboration with the Graduate School University of Maryland Baltimore and the Graduate Student Association University of Maryland Baltimore. Her presentation earned the Best Oral Presentation Award, recognizing excellence in scientific communication and research impact.
Tehmeena Akhter is a student of Dr. Saima Riazuddin, Professor at University of Maryland, USA and adjunct faculty member at the Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology, University of the Punjab.
