PU organizes book launching ceremony
![]() Lahore: (Monday, November 17, 2025): A launching ceremony for the book "Legacy Beyond Leadership" written by former Vice Chancellor of Punjab University, Lt. Gen (r) Arshad Mehmood, was organized PU Directorate of Students Affairs at Al Raazi Hall here on Monday. On this occasion, PU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, UET VC Prof Dr Shahid Munir, former PU VC Lt. Gen (r) Arshad Mehmood, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, former VCs, faculty members, employees, and students were present. In his address, Prof Dr Muhammad Ali said that becoming the Vice Chancellor of PU is a great honor. He said that Lt. Gen (r) Arshad Mehmood has rendered remarkable services for PU during his tenure as VC. He said that the book reflects exactly what Lt. Gen (r) Arshad Mehmood practically accomplished at the PU. He said that for governance, not only in universities but in all institutions, having moral authority is essential. He further said that this book will provide learning opportunities for the younger generation. He added that those who worked with Lt. Gen (r) Arshad Mehmood still remember him with great respect due to his good work and character. Prof Dr Shahid Munir said that the tenure of Lt. Gen (r) Arshad Mehmood was a golden era for PU, during which merit and transparency prevailed. He said that the essence of the author’s book is that your moral excellence is your true asset, only then do people genuinely admire you. He said that during his eight-year tenure as VC, Lt, Gen (r) Arshad Mehmood established 25 new departments. He said that the establishment of Town-I and II for the PU community is author’s remarkable achievement and will always be remembered. Lt. Gen (r) Arshad Mehmood said that he is grateful to PU for organizing an excellent ceremony. He said that we should do such work that people remember us even after we are gone. He said that a person is greater than his status. He expressed his gratitude to those who supported him in producing the excellent publication.
